Cobbles Kitchen - Destination Dining

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

Cobbles is an award winning café restaurant with a real focus on delivering honest, delicious food for the ultimate warm and friendly dining experience.

When visiting the picturesque beaches Wales has to offer, one of the most popular beaches visitors peruse sits along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, Ogmore-by Sea in The Vale of Glamorgan. Looking over Tusker Rock, the rocky shoreline is well known as a rock climbing location and a yearly popular tourist hotspot. Yet with limited dining experiences along this charming coast to match it’s audacious atmosphere, we turn to a Grade II listed Farmhouse, Ty Maen Farm Buildings. Sitting to the left of Ogmore Road, this café / deli / wedding venue / fish and chip shop offers to set the tone of the boastful beach with plenty to choose from.

Cobbles Kitchen, run by local businesswoman Chloe Oakley and her team, offers a perfect stop off for all avid food lovers, from the foolhardy surfers/climbers, to the slow Sunday dog strollers. Anyone looking to enjoy top quality delicacies, with first class customer service, look no further!

Housed in a glorious 16th Century, Grade II listed barn on the fringe of the spectacular heritage coast, in the heart of The Vale of Glamorgan, Cobbles Kitchen operates as a café style eatery. With a staple menu of breakfast, brunch and afternoon tea the variety for all is consistently appetising. Menus are filled with delicious, home-made delicacies that the team are constantly experimenting with creating mouth-watering newness that makes every trip like the first. From pies, cakes, sandwiches and more the kitchen is also home to the most wonderful locally produced artisan food and drink, focussed on using local ingredients to offer customers a true taste of Wales.

We'll turn to the cafe first, thats open from Wednesday - Sunday 9:30AM - 2:00PM, customers can treat themselves to breakfast and/or brunch while sat out in the courtyard breathing in that fragrant, fresh Welsh air. The cafe offers an array of options that are sure to tempt any individual.

Next the deli, offering exquisite sandwiches experimenting with flavoursome staples such as the Chilli Cheese while also offering an array of vegan options too! A generous filling in all their quality delicacies with variety for all, the Deli offers takeaway sandwiches, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, cakes and more for anyone to grab and go. Open from Wednesday through to Sunday 10AM - 3PM. Success from the café and deli have brought great acknowledgement for Cobbles Kitchen with local media, but no doubt can be made in it being the quality of their food and service that keeps expectant customers returning.

With the Deli and café running like a well oiled machine, Chloe continues to work to find new ways to bring this one off atmosphere Cobbles creates to a more personal and special part of people’s lives. With the creation of their stunning first floor function room, 'The Hayloft' Chloe quickly made it available for all exclusive special daytime events. Holding up to 40 comfortably, it is the perfect space for those special and intimate celebrations and has seen great success.

This success inevitably led to them also offering the whole venue for exclusive use of evening celebrations, with packages for intimate weddings or big family affairs. With a capacity of 100 seated and 200 standing it's the perfect choice for big celebrations, with a fully licensed bar and catering packages to suit all!

This newly licensed wedding venue offers the answer for anyone looking to capture the heart of Ogmore-by Sea for their special occasions. As part of their growth into the events sector Cobbles Kitchen also offers food platters for those special occasions that promise to wow while also fulfilling the senses of any consumer. Bringing authentic flavours to special events and celebrations, Cobbles offers lavish grazing tables and family style feasting choices that will craft a delectable, colourful and plentiful experience for any food connoisseur.

Cobble's Kitchen has shown no surrender to the challenges of the last 18 months, as the devastating effects of Covid-19 have taken its toll, the kitchen has had to pivot and adapt as so many others throughout the pandemic. With many closing their doors and unsure of when (or ever) they would be open again, Chloe worked tirelessly throughout closures to ensure Cobbles came back bigger, better and stronger. Resourcefully and brilliantly building a fish and chips venue next to the kitchen to reel in customers upon their return (The Catch), as well as gaining their licence to be a wedding venue, the attentive business owner found opportunity where there seemed little. The café, now open again with its successful new counterparts, still suffered the aftermath of Covid and Brexit and had to scale back due to chef shortages, though the kitchen has continued to muddle through, still offering a generous menu of breakfast, brunch and afternoon tea favourites.

The kitchen's afternoon tea is the perfect treat for any special occasion, with gift vouchers available on their website, why not spoil a loved one with a special experience for two. Afternoon tea available from Friday - Sunday 2:00PM - 4:00-PM.

Part of Cobbles Kitchen's latest conquest couldn't have been more fitting for the scenes that surround them - A fish and chip bar called The Catch.

A fish and chip shop with a Cobbles twist providing responsibly sourced produce and plenty of plant based options, the team has seen queues out the door for the British beach staple and is definitely one for the bucket list if you haven't tried it or their vegan options. All fresh fish is locally and sustainably sourced, as well as homemade pies, rissoles and more. There's eve a climbing frame for the kids to play on while you wait!

So what will be next for Cobbles Kitchen as Chloe unapologetically strives to push authentic Welsh flavour and goodness with new inventive ideas? All we are certain of is it will be original, substantial and one to watch.
